MSM Automotive / Mechanics2u is a proudly New Zealand–owned automotive service business with strong roots in Auckland and a genuine passion for quality workmanship, honest advice, and customer care.
Our Story
The business is owned and operated by Ben Adams, an experienced mechanic with a long-standing connection to both mobile and workshop-based vehicle servicing.
Ben first entered business through Mechanics2u, a mobile mechanics service that was originally formed in April 2006. The idea behind Mechanics2u was simple: make vehicle servicing more convenient by coming to the customer. Instead of the hassle of booking into a workshop, dropping a car off, and arranging transport, Mechanics2u could service vehicles at home, at work, or almost anywhere they were needed.
This mobile-first approach helped minimise vehicle downtime while delivering professional, courteous service to customers across the greater Auckland region, from Albany through to Drury. From routine maintenance and general repairs to pre-purchase inspections, Mechanics2u built a strong reputation for reliability and high standards.
A Sentimental Step Forward
In November 2021, Ben took the next step in his journey by purchasing MSM Automotive, a well-established mechanical workshop based in Penrose, Auckland. This was more than just a business decision, it was legacy.
MSM Automotive is where Ben completed his mechanic apprenticeship, making the opportunity to take ownership of the workshop especially meaningful. The business already had a strong history, having serviced and repaired vehicles in the Penrose area for over a decade.
Where We Are Today
Today, MSM Automotive operates primarily from the Penrose workshop, providing comprehensive mechanical repairs and vehicle servicing for a wide range of customers. We work on all makes and models, including cars, vans, 4x4s, and light commercial vehicles, petrol or diesel.
Our services range from basic maintenance such as wiper blades, spark plugs, and servicing, right through to more complex mechanical repairs and engine work. We also offer vehicle service options to suit different needs and budgets.
While the Penrose workshop is now our main base, we continue to offer the Mechanics2u mobile service from time to time for customers who value the added convenience of on-site servicing.
Our Team
Ben is supported by a small, dedicated team, including Chloe, a fully qualified automotive technician. Together, they bring skill, attention to detail, and pride to every job.
Ben strongly believes that diversity strengthens the automotive industry, and having a woman in the service and repair team is a point of difference he is proud of. MSM Automotive is committed to professionalism, respect, and creating a welcoming experience for all customers.
